Yayy!! Summer is here, and I cannot help my head wander over the unlimited possibilities of things that I want to do. Mayank and I have been making sure to step out every day after work for a couple of hours out in the open and let Mishika explore the outside nature. We have been taking trips to the state parks every other weekend, hiking them, and just soaking in all the sun and getting as much as vitamin D possible.
But in a rush to achieve it all, I have begun to realize that there has been not much time that I have been devoting to ‘self-love’. Lately, I have got too hooked on crossing off my to-do summer list. Given the reality of a small ‘summer’ that we get here in Buffalo, the pressure of doing it all is huge. In a stride to achieve it all, I have started to feel tired and worn out. So, a new note to myself, to take it slow and remind me that only so much can be done and there will be many more summers to come.
So I have started a new list, and this time just in my mind, an easy-breezy things-to-do list which is achievable and easily manageable. And if something exciting happens along with that, it is always welcomed.
Here goes my list 😊
I want to kayak and spend my time in the middle of the water just reading and admiring the nature (will aim for it when Mishika is in school 😊 sorry Mishika., you are welcome to join me when you can handle your own kayak)
Host a BBQ in the backyard and invite my friends over…something that I have always wanted to do. Although we have BBQed several times before but every time, BBQ is always a spur of the moment decision. I hope to host one as I see in the Martha Stewart magazines (hey… don’t judge one can dream high)
Pick gardening as a hobby and bring to life a new flower in my garden
Skip the grocery store and head over to the farmer’s market over the weekend for my weekly groceries.
Catch a late-night movie in the drive-in theater and watch it by sitting outside on my car’s hood and have my belly treated to some double cheese popcorn and root beer float (it's summer, let the calories pile up)
My favorite… go strawberry picking with Mishika and Mayank and get some beautiful Instagram pictures clicked like the ones I am always mesmerized with while scrolling through my Instagram feed (hmm… Mayank if you are reading this then you know what is on your summer bucket list for this year…😊)
Get dip polish 💅 . not really a part of the summer bucket list but something that has been on my mind for a long time.
Join the tribe of women who work out in groups in the parks. Well, I do have some leads on this. Working on it!
My biggie ‘host a garage sale'. I a big hoarder who can’t get away with stuff easily (it’s hard to describe my current closet scene) …I want to host a garage sale and get rid of the unwanted stuff
Swim., swim., swim as much as I can
Take Mishika on a carousel ride to the fair
Watch fireworks at the Niagara Falls
Build sandcastles with Mishika on the beach and massive ones
Jump in a lake…so want to do this. can’t wait to do this
‘Glamping’ with Mayank and Mishika at least once this summer
Goodbye jeans I have lived in you for way too long this winter
Create monster soap balloons with Mishika in our backyard
And let the sprinklers loose in our garden every sunny day and have our family rain dance as a fun summer tradition….
These are just a few of the things on my mind lately. I haven’t yet asked what Mayank wants to do this summer and for Mishika…she is still a baby so this year she gets to do what her parents wish for 😊
Happy Summer guys! Create your fun summer bucket list….
