Summer is a great time of the year to be outside and explore the outdoors with your little one. Find a list of fun summer outdoor activities for toddlers.

Summer.

Hair gets lighter. Skin gets darker.

Water gets warmer. Drinks get colder.

Music gets louder. Nights get longer.

Life gets better.

Summer is the perfect season to step out and explore the area and new places as much as you can. For me, summer holds a very special place and I look forward to it dearly all year long as in Buffalo we get close to six months of harsh and cold winter. By the time summer arrives, I am eager to ditch all my winter clothing and get into shorts and flip flops as soon as possible. I am very excited that this summer my little girl Mishika will be close to eighteen months old and she will be in that age where she is able to explore, walk around, and curious about the things around. I have been busy making travel plans, hiking, beach, and many other vacation plans which I am excitedly looking forward to exploring with my family this summer. Along with those plans, I also have a few summer outdoor activities that I will make sure to do on weekdays or on those quiet weekends when we are at home that will keep my little girl entertained and busy.

1. Explore the outdoor (park, streets) – This is the topmost activity that I plan to do almost daily. We live in upstate NY which is filled with beautiful parks and city streets. Make sure to get good and comfortable walking shoes for you and your little one and start exploring around any blocks and parks close to your home. This will keep your little one entertained as well as if you are lucky tire them out and you might get a full night sleep. I really like Keds walking shoes for my little girl and also these from Zappos. Another one of my favorites is from Stride Rite.2. Spend time gardening – This is a fun activity to do with your toddler and it can also benefit you as you can find time to maintain your garden in your busy schedule. I have bought this toy mower for my daughter as she likes to imitate me and my husband when we cut the grass. I also like this one or this one which makes bubbles as you move. I also plan to get her these gardening toy sets, this one, this and this which she can enjoy while gardening with us.3. Hit the beach – Life is always better at the beach. A very true saying! You can get sand toys for your little one and help them make a sandcastle and play in the water while you can relax on the beach. Some good options are this one,, this is another good option and this.

4. Play in a sandbox – A great sensory activity for toddlers. Through this activity, the little one learns to explore their hands, dig into imaginary play by making creative designs in the sand, and also learn to socialize by playing with other kids. You can find sandbox at any local parks around your home or you could use this technique to create one for your home in your backyard.

5. Have splash fun in your yard – This activity can be a lot of fun especially when trying to beat those hot summer days. You can buy either splash fun playsets for your toddlers and set it up in your backyard or just let your toddler have fun with the sprinklers that you use to water your garden with. I really like this splash playset for toddlers and plan on getting one of these for my daughter, or this one or this.

Summer can be a lot of fun if you have a few activities planned to do with your little one. It is a great time of the year to spend a lot of family time outdoors, bbq in local parks or backyard, and create a lot of fun and beautiful memories with your little one.
