As the weather here starts to drop with the starting of the Fall season, it’s the best time here to start preparing your home, car and garden for the cold winter season which is headed its way here to Buffalo. As you all know, I live in Buffalo city in Western NY which is ranked among the coldest cities in the United States. We usually get snowfall somewhere in the range of 4-5 inches at times and it’s really important to prepare your car for such a heavy snowfall and cold winter season.

My first all-wheel drive

I still remember my time back in 2015 when I had to buy my first car. I had just got into a really good job and wanted a sturdy and comfortable car for my daily commute to work especially in the winter season. While looking for a car my priority was safety first and so I ended up settling with an all-wheel-drive car packed with all the advanced safety features. From right lane camera, back up camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and a lot of many features – my car has it all.

Even though my car is packed with all these safety features which definitely makes my driving very comfortable and safe, still having trusted auto insurance from Erie Insurance is a must. Besides all these advanced features that my car offers, every winter for the last six years of me driving here in Buffalo, I have always needed auto insurance. Either it was some other car behind me who accidentally slipped on the black ice and bumped my car or it was my car that slipped and accidentally got stuck into a pile of snow and my worst nightmare was when my car disagreed to start on an extremely chilly winter day. I have had my share of troubles of living and driving in an extremely cold city but having a trusted auto insurance from Erie Insurance has always made my life super easy and I don’t have to worry about being stranded somewhere with my car on cold winter days.

National safety survey by Erie Insurance

Erie Insurance conducted a national safety survey to draw drivers attention towards the car advanced safety features and motivates them to use them.

With the advanced engineering technology today, our cars are safer, but the technology only works if people actually use it. The national survey found some drivers are intentionally turning OFF these safety features such as:

  • 30% adaptive cruise control
  • 23% lane assist
  • 17% emergency braking
  • 11% forward-collision warning
  • 9% blind-spot monitoring

CLICK HERE to read the entire report and survey by Erie Insurance and learn more about these safety features and why they are so important.

Erie Insurance encourages drivers to give these new features a chance and take time to get used to them. Ideally, as features improve and drivers get more comfortable with them, using them will become second nature in the way seatbelts are today, and the payoff could be huge in terms of reducing crashes and saving lives.

Why Erie Insurance is the right choice?

  • Erie Insurance is passionate about taking care of his customers and all drivers, and always motivate all the drivers to make the most of all the safety features in the car. Car emergency kit list (Free printable)

With the start of the winter, I always use this simple checklist of must-have items in my car in a way of preparing my car for winter. Having these items in my car has been super handy especially when I got stranded on a highway in the 2015 winter snowstorm for close to 6 hours due to heavy snowfall and extremely slow-moving traffic. Also, now that I have my toddler in my car with me all the time, I take all the more safety precautions to make sure that I have everything in my car when I need it the most.
