Are you looking for an easy Easter egg craft idea to keep your little one busy? Check out this easy to make Easter egg potato stamp basket that can keep your kids busy for hours.

With Easter just around the corner, I have been making Mishika try out new crafts for Easter to celebrate the occasion at home. To be honest, by making crafts with her, I too get to enjoy the magic and excitement that we had as kids for any upcoming holidays. Although right now due to the lockdown there is not much that we can do but to the very least we can create fun arts and crafts to get into the Easter spirit.

I helped Mishika make this Easter egg potato stamp basket, which took us a couple of hours to create as it has a few many steps but easy ones that a toddler can easily do. I would totally recommend you all to try this out with your little ones at home if you are looking for an activity to keep them engaged for long as well as to celebrate Easter.

Steps to make it!

  1. The first step is obviously a parent's task to cut the potato in the desired shape. The straight lines were the easiest to make, the zig-zag lines were tough and took some time to carve.
  2. Dip the potato in the paint and stamp really hard against a piece of paper. I used a paintbrush to paint the potato with different colors.
  3. Once the potato stamps are dry, cut them into the oval egg using a scissor and keep aside.
  4. Next, draw a basket on a white construction sheet and cut out the top part while keeping the bottom part.
  5. Cut out thin strips of the brown construction sheet and cut them into small squares and stick them to the bottom of the basket cutout. You can also make lines using a brown sketch pen to give it a basket look or have your little one finger finger paint the basket in brown. There are a ton of ideas to decorate the basket!
  6. After that, it is time to place the eggs in the basket. Stick the eggs cutout on the backside of the basket cutout (as shown in the picture) so that it appears as though the eggs are placed in the basket.
  7. Finally, decorate the outside of the basket to give it an outline using glitter glue. That's it!easter egg
