By living in Buffalo you do have two noticeable luxuries besides the many other good things that this city has to offer. One of them is the close proximity to a big city like Toronto and not to mention altogether another country ‘Canada’ and the other big one is living close to a beautiful tourist spot ‘Niagara Falls’. We stay around 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls and it’s needless to say that it’s one of our favorite state parks to go to. I have been to Niagara Falls up teem times and witnessed its beauty in all the four seasons, where this fall takes a very different look for each season everytime. Be it sunny around 100 deg F or winter when it’s -27deg F I have been here, but I am never bored of it. Coming down to Niagara falls makes me feel so peaceful and relaxed, it’s like meditating.

Horseshoe Fall

The best season to visit Niagara falls is summer when you can take the famous ‘maid of the mist’ boat ride up close to the falls or other attractions like ‘cave of the wind’ etc. With Mayank’s cousin in town visiting us from Texas, this gave us another great opportunity to experience the boat ride once again. Although this time it was extra special as we were taking Mishika for the very first time with us on the boat.

Mayank too happy to board the boat for the 1** time!

Mishika has an extremely adventurous personality and as we guessed she enjoyed her entire ride and was not scared at all even when we were closest to the falls and had the water pouring on us like crazy. I could hear her clapping and shouting with excitement through all this. It was a lot of fun watching her enjoy her first boat ride and it felt like I was on it for the very first time too 😊.

Up Close to the Fall

Initially, I wasn’t very sure if I wanted to do the ‘cave of the winds’ with her as that included climbing more than 100 steps and really slippery ones. But after seeing her excitement Mayank and I decided to go for it. We were very careful while climbing the stairs as that can get really slippery and held Mishika in our arms throughout. But it was all worth the struggle to get her up the flight of stairs. The wind was moving fast and we encountered many forceful fall water splashes on us which was really exciting.

Somewhere in the Middle of our Climb

After this as we were completely drenched we walked from the American Falls to the Horseshoe Falls which is a good 20-30 minutes walk which gave us ample time to dry out.

We spent some time at the Horsehoe Falls taking some amazing photos and just laying on the grass and socking the sun.

This was a good 4-5 hours spent at Niagara Falls and on our way back home we decided to stop at one of our favorite Indian restaurants ‘Zaika’ which is only a few minutes away from Niagara Falls. It was so delicious and we had a blast talking and remembering all the fun moments spent.

Finally, the perks of living so close by to Niagara Falls were that we were back home in 20 minutes and relaxed and were also able to catch up on a few of our favorite sitcoms before going to bed.

I can't wait to visit ‘Niagara falls’ from the Canada side. I have never done that before. Hopefully this summer we will get a chance to do that.
