So, you are pregnant but feeling a little overwhelmed by it all! Find these simple things that you can do to stay positive and keep happy during pregnancy.

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful time in a woman’s life, but it is also one of the toughest times as well. Pregnancy comes with its own sets of surprises and challenges that many times can feel extremely overwhelming for many women.  

With my pregnancy, I had my own share of surprises. From having to visit a specialist three times a week due to a pregnancy complication to gaining a lot of weight in my third trimester, unable to walk due to swollen ankles and severe heartburns are just a few to name. And not to forget the always changing mood swings which I am sure was pretty difficult for my husband to keep up with 🙂 and a few more.  

But among all these discomforts and anxiousness, I kept reminding myself that at the end of this journey I get to hold my most precious gift in my arms.   Keeping a positive mindset and enjoying a healthy pregnancy has not only been proven beneficial for the mothers but for the unborn child as well.  

So, moms, if you are feeling a little overwhelmed in this journey and feel like drowning yourself in self-pity, then I am here to tell you otherwise – ‘Don’t do this to yourself’. The journey that you are on is a remarkable one so embrace this moment and let go of all your worries.

Keep happy thoughts

This simple habit or surrounding yourself with positive people can really help you change your mindset and look at the brighter side of life.  It is a proven scientific study that watching or hearing negative news or even being around negative people can really harm you during pregnancy. It can make your mind clouded and you end up focusing on the wrong things.   Thinking about things that make you happy, or thinking about places, food, people that make you happy can be a huge mood-lifter and in all this, you will end up feeling more gratitude and happiness in your pregnancy.

Engage in self-care

Self-care has always been a great way of taking care of oneself and with you being pregnant, it is all the more important to pamper yourself during this time.   Engaging in simple self-care habits like going to a salon, getting a new haircut or going out with your girlfriends is a great way to enjoy your pregnancy.  

 

Go for a walk

This little trick always worked very well with me when I would feel extremely clouded and anxious. Going outside for a brisk walk and breathing in some fresh air can really help clear your mind and raise your endorphins level in turn making you happy.

Share your feelings with a loved one

It’s never a good idea to bottle up your feelings in your head which in turn will only end up making you more vulnerable and sadder.  It’s ok to be able to share your feeling with your partner or your loved ones or also cry sometimes to clear your head as it can help ease all the negativity and stress in your mind and make you feel better.  

Having people around you to share your thought and emotions can really help during those tough times in pregnancy.  

 

Do activities that make you happy

Engaging in activities that make you happy is another great way of enjoying your pregnancy. For me, happy activities are watching a comedy movie or eating out in my favourite restaurant.   Always remember to keep doing these activities during your pregnancy as these moments can bring a lot of joy in your life and help you enjoy your pregnancy all the more.  

 

Focus on the good

Finally, no matter how difficult the situation is or however uncomfortable you find yourself in the pregnancy, always remember to focus on the good.  

The good is the little one that you will soon be able to hold and cherish for the rest of your life. So always keep a positive mindset and enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest!

Remember all these challenges are temporary, and they will soon be over even before you know it. So, embrace your pregnancy, keep happy thoughts and always remember to focus on the good. There is positivity all around you. All you have to do it keep looking for it.
