Bath time for kids is such a special moment. This is the time when you can engage with your kid, talk to them about the day, play with them, sing songs while being able to hold them at a single spot and bath toys are a great and fun ways to keep your little one occupied during their bath time.
As my little girl is undergoing teething, I have observed that as soon as I put her in her bathtub she picks up her little duckies and start to chew on them. Although she looks super cute while doing this, the danger lies within these bath toys that are not visible to the naked eyes.
If you pick up these bath toys and squeeze them you will see the mold inside them coming out which on continuous exposure to your little one can cause dangerous allergies and other health issues. Water gets trapped in these toys and the humidity and moisture of the water is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and mold. So it’s always a good idea to clean these toys at least once in every two weeks.
THINGS YOU ‘LL NEED
Add 1/2 cup white vinegar per gallon of warm water in a bucket. Soak the toys in the solution for about 10 minutes, then rub them gently with a sponge. To clean the inside of these toys, suck some solution in the toys, shake, and squeeze out. Let them air-dry. That's it!
Another way to prevent mold from forming in the first place, is using proper and clean storage for these toys. Maybe investing in a tray or rack like this one or this one that will allow the water to drain from the toys, leaving them close to an open window for proper ventilation or using fans and vents to disperse leftover steam from the bath. Anything that dries the toys out will help prevent mold from forming.

I sealed our bathtub toys with superglue to prevent water from getting inside. It’s an easy way to stop the spread of mold. A mesh bag is great for storage and allows the toys to dry quickly.
