Sometimes pregnancy can get very overwhelming for a few moms. Find tips here that can help you stay motivated during tough times.
Being pregnant is a beautiful feeling but it can also feel very exhausting and stressful for many moms. From frequent heartburns to swollen ankles there a ton of pregnancy discomforts that can be difficult to handle and at the same time things like planning your finances once the baby is here can also feel extremely stressful and make you look more on the difficult side of being pregnant.
When I was pregnant there were often instances when I felt extremely demotivated. For instance, I had a severe case of heartburn in my third trimester which was just unbearable to manage. I was unable to eat or sleep because of that and to top that I had overall gained sixty pounds in my pregnancy which was making me so uncomfortable to walk, sit or do anything that I wanted.
Also one of the scariest moments in my pregnancy was when I was diagnosed with a pregnancy complication in the first trimester because of which I had to visit a neonatal specialist every week for a scan for the first two trimesters. It was one of the most stressful times in my life. During these moments, it was very easy for me to lose focus on the good side of pregnancy and often feel depressed.
Although my pregnancy was not that easy there were a few things that I constantly tried to do with myself so that I could enjoy being pregnant and feel motivated.

Keep away from negative news
You have no idea how much negative news can affect your subconscious mind. Anything sad can easily leave you feeling depressed and unhappy and with pregnancy and all the discomforts, it’s very easy to fall in that trap of feeling low most of the time.
When I was pregnant I made sure never to turn on my news channels to see what was happening. Personally, as a person, I am very easily affected by the negative news around me and hence I try to keep as away from it as possible.
Keeping away from negativity and negative news can save you many chances of feeling depressed in your pregnancy. And don’t worry about missing out on anything important around the globe. If it’s that important, then the news will definitely reach you via your family or friends.
Focus on the things that make you happy
If you find yourself feeling negative in pregnancy then try and focus on things that make you happy. Maybe it’s cooking your favorite dish or taking a walk around the block.
Whenever I wanted to take my mind off the pregnancy stress that I was going through, I would go down to my favorite book store, grab a tea and just spend a few hours reading a good book. This helped me take my mind off and being around people in the book store made me happy.
Take effort to socialize at least once a week
I am well aware that towards the end of the pregnancy it's really uncomfortable and difficult to move around with all the weight gain. All a pregnant mom at that time wants to do is relax and rest as much as possible.
But still as tired or exhausted you are feeling, try and take some time off to socialize with your friends at least once a week. It can be a great way to vent out all the negativity that has been piling up in your mind and in turn, it might also make you happy to see your friends and celebrate the arrival of your little one.
Find a hobby
Have you heard the saying that an ‘Empty mind is a devil’s workshop.’ This is so true! Idleness is the biggest trigger for demotivation in pregnancy. When you are idle and have nothing to do, you start to concentrate on all the negativity around you and sometimes even make it a big deal in your head.
The best way to remain active during pregnancy is to find a hobby that you can easily do. Maybe it’s reading, painting, or even writing whatever that can keep you busy and help take your mind off.
Happy moms make happy babies
I am sure your doctor must have told you, that whatever you think or feel has a big effect on your unborn child. If you are feeling stressed and thinking about your problems too much, it can affect your unborn child in a negative way.
Hence, one of the easiest ways to stay positive during pregnancy is to always think about the consequences of your actions will have on your unborn child. This can help you think positive and stay motivated during pregnancy.
Remember that its just temporary
Finally, it is important to remember that whatever is the reason for your stress is not permanent. With time everything changes for the better.
Concentrate on the good part of pregnancy, that is your little bundle of joy that will soon be entering your life to make it happier and fulfilling.
Being pregnant is a beautiful feeling that you should feel fortunate for. Although whatever it is that concerns you, remember that pregnancy is a phase and will be over in nine months and you might even miss being pregnant once your little bundle of joy is here.
So embrace your pregnancy for now and enjoy it to the fullest!
I definitely agree that being pregnant can be too exhausting and stressful especially for a first-timer like me. A lot of symptoms had already shown for the past few weeks and I’m really tired of vomiting as soon as I wake up. Maybe it’s a good idea to let an obstetrician check my condition to see if there’s anything I should be careful about.
If you’re feeling a bit fed up of your day-to-day tasks ask for a new project or an increased workload to challenge yourself. You can also take a course and learn a new skill that will benefit you and your company.
